EARLY CROSS FOUND IN 1925 IN CHURCHYARD OF ST PETER'S: IN THE FORM OF A WHEEL CROSS WITH SCULPTURED ORNAMENT WHICH SHOWS AFFINITY WITH THE JUTLAND JELLING STONE. NOW LOCATED IN THE CHURCH ON ONE OF THE S WINDOWS OF THE CHANCEL. MUST BE THE SO CALLED 'CONISHOLME STONE'. THE FIND SPOT WAS POINTED OUT IN 1963 AT TF40289535 BY THE CHURCHWARDEN. {1}{2} A VERY INTERESTING HEAD OF AN ANGLO-SAXON WHEEL CROSS, LATE C10 OR C11, WITH A TINY, VERY PRIMITIVE CRUCIFIXUS, INTERLACE ABOVE HIS HEAD, THREE DISKS BY HIS FEET. {3}
