Full Description
A small Benedictine priory, dependent on St Calais, was founded at Covenham by King William I in about 1082 and likely had no more than one or two monks. In 1303 the cell was sold to Kirkstead Abbey. The modern farm of Covenham Grange is at TF 3533 9569; it may mark the spot of the former priory, although no further information could be obtained locally, and the exact location of the priory remains uncertain. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}
