Full Description

The extinct hamlet or village of Dunsthorpe is represented by the hamlet of Thorpe. It was within the Wapentake of Louthesk but was not recorded in either the Domesday Book of 1086 or the Lindsey Survey of 1115. {1}{2}{3} Four households were recorded in Dunsthorpe in 1563 in the Diocesan Returns. {5} Earthwork remains of the settlement, including ridge and furrow and possible enclosures were observed on the Bing Maps aerial photography layer. The earthworks extend south and east from the remains seen and recorded by the National Mapping Programme. {4}{6}
