Full Description

SITE OF SHRUNKEN MEDIEVAL VILLAGE, EAST KEAL. MENTIONED IN DOMESDAY AND IN POLL TAX RETURNS OF 1377 AS HAVING 185 INDIVIDUALS. {1}{2} SITE BULLDOZED IN 1959 WHEN FOUNDATIONS AND POTTERY FROM C12 ONWARDS WERE RECORDED. EARTHWORKS WERE PRESENT ON AIR PHOTOS BUT ARE NO LONGER VISIBLE. ROAD WORKINGS IN 1934 REVEALED SIGNS OF A HEARTH IN SECTION AND C12-C13 POTTERY FRAGMENTS. {3}{4}{5}, HTM 53M
