IN 1968 MR AND MRS A E B OWEN FOUND REMAINS INTERPRETED AS 'OBVIOUSLY PART OF EAST KIRKBY OLD VILLAGE'. THEIR FINDS INCLUDED MESCELLANEOUS MEDIEVAL POT AND A FEW PIECES OF POST MEDIEVAL POTTERY (PRN 40767) {1} POTTERY AND RUBBLE FROM AREA OF SOILMARK AROUND EAST KIRKBY CHURCH. AS WELL AS 237 POTSHERDS THERE WAS BURNT STONE AND RUBBLE, MISCELLANEOUS FIRED CLAY, IRON FRAGMENTS AND 23 BONES. SEE PRN 42701 FOR LATE SAXON FINDS. {2}, AREA 0.03H, HTM 25M
