Full Description

The site of the medieval village of Hallington. First mentioned in the Domesday Book. {1} In the 1377 poll tax returns Hallington is recorded with at least 70 inhabitants (over 14 years of age). {2} During a walkover survey, earthwork ridge and furrow and plough headlands were observed at about TF 3088 8547. {3}{4} Present day Hallington has a couple of farms only and there is no documented trace of its former extent on the Ordnance Survey mapping. {5}
