Full Description

Sythesby, or Schicthesbia, is supposed to have been in the park, close to the Kangaroo pond at Revesby. In the mid 12th century, William I of Roumare gave his land here and at Thoresby (see PRN 40741) for the founding of Revesby Abbey, recompensing the villagers (13 families) for displacement. The village is not mentioned in the Domesday Book or the Lindsay Survey. Slight traces of earthworks are discernible on aerial photographs in the area of TF 3070 6210. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}
