POSSIBLE LOST HAMLET OF SCREMTHORPE HAVING 9 FAMILIES IN 1565. TERRIER OF 1602 MENTIONS LAND IN SCREVENTHORPE FIELD WHICH BUTTED UPON BURGH ON N AND HAD HIGHWAY FROM SOMERGATES TO CROFT TO S. {1} AREA AS MENTIONED ABOVE SHOWS NO TRACES OF A VILLAGE AND NO LOCAL TRADITION OF SUCH. {2} ROMAN 4TH CENTURY GREYWARES, MEDIEVAL AND POST MEDIEVAL SHERDS (14TH TO 18TH CENTURY) FOUND IN PLOUGHSOIL INCLUDING TOYNTON AND BOSTON TYPES. ALSO FOUND; A SCHIST TAPERED HONE, SMALL BONE FIGURINE OF A LATE 14TH CENTURY LADY PERHAPS FROM A KNIFE HANDLE, AND A BROKEN STONE MORTAR. {3}{4}{5}
