THIS AREA WAS THOUGHT TO BE A ROMAN SETTLEMENT BY C.W.PHILLIPS. THESE COINS WERE FOUND IN 1975 AND 1976. IN 1975, 14 COINS FROM CLAUDIUS II TO ARCADIUS IN 1976, 85 COINS FROM DOMITIAN TO THEODOSIUS I ALSO FOUND WERE A LEAD WEIGHT AND A BRONZE THISTLE-HEADED DRESS PIN. {1} A POSSIBLE C4 COIN OF MAXENTIUS (306-12), AND ROMAN POTTERY, INCLUDING SAMIAN WARE, WERE ALSO FOUND ON THIS SITE. ALSO, THE BASE OF SWANPOOL GREY WARE POT FROM THE BRAYFORD KILN, LINCOLN FROM MID C3, A PARISIAN WARE DRIKING VESSEL (MARKET RASEN) - C3, SAMIAN SHERD - GAUL 140-180AD, AND C3-C4 NENE VALLEY WARE. {2}
