Full Description

St German's Church stands on a large artificial mound, which is fairly well covered by the church, except at the east end where it juts out several yards. Its height is about three feet. {1} This is a foundation mound, probably dating from 1860, when the church was rebuilt. {2} A parish church dating from the 12th century which underwent alterations in the 15th century and was rebuilt in 1861, by James Fowler, re-using some earlier fragments.
