Full Description

This record includes PRN40209 which has now been deleted. A deserted medieval village that has been levelled and ploughed. Pottery has been found from several areas of the site. The pottery includes Romano-British greywares, hand-made middle Anglo-Saxon, Saxo-Norman shelly ware and Stamford ware. Medieval shelly wares and 13th to 18th century wares including Westerwald, Delft and slipware have also been found. {1}{2} Village remains were seen in aerial photographs and plotted by the National Mapping Programme. The earthworks seen included hollow ways, enclosures, crew yards and crofts. There were also small areas of ridge and furrow recorded in the village. {3}
