Full Description
A looped and socketed axe, of late Bronze Age date found in Coningsby. It was formerly in Mr Mossop's collection and now in Lincoln Museum. On the old museum record card the axehead is said to have been found south-west of Hern Bridge Farm so an estimated grid reference of TF 214 541 has been given to this record. This is about 300m south-west of Hurn Bridge Farm not too far from the River Witham but still in Coningsby parish. It is possible the findspot may be even closer to the river. {1}{2}{3}
