Full Description

PRN 40034 One of two bone skates found near an 'ancient canoe' in 1848, when the Great Northern Railway was built at Stixwould Ferry. The skate may possibly be a runner to facilitate removal of boat from the water. Now in the Museum of Antiquities, Edinburgh. {1}{2} A dug-out boat was found in 1848 at TF 159 648. {3}
