Full Description

A PAROCHIAL CHAPEL IS NAMED IN A LATE TWELFTH CENTURY MANUSCRIPT. {1} IN 1359 BISHOP GYNWELL OF LINCOLN ISSUED A TEMPORARY LICENCE FOR RELIGIOUS SERVICES FOR A CHAPEL AT OSGODBY. {2} DURING A WATCHING BRIEF ON A PIPELINE A FRAGMENT OF MOULDED LIMESTONE WAS FOUND AMONGST A PILE OF STONE PRESUMABLY CLEARED FROM THE FIELDS AROUND OSGODBY MANOR FARM. THE MOULDING DOES NOT APPEAR TO CORRESPOND WITH ANY OF THE STONEWORK SEEN ON A PHOTOGRAPH OF THE OLD HALL, AND IT MAY HAVE COME FROM THE MEDIEVAL CHAPEL. THE STONES WERE AT TF 01902804, BUT THE SITE OF THE CHAPEL MIGHT BE IN ANY OF THE SURROUNDING FIELDS IF THE STONE WAS PLOUGHED UP. {3}{4}
