Full Description

PRN 35002 Trial trenching in 1996 recorded a large pit used to quarry the underlying limestone bedrock. The pit was dated to the thirteenth to fourteenth centuries from pottery finds. A small quantity of slag was also retrieved.{1}{2} During a watching brief in 1998, a sherd of Stamford ware pitcher dating from the twelfth to the thirteenth century was recovered.{2}{3}
