Full Description

PRN 34992 PRONOUNCED UNDULATIONS OF RIDGE AND FURROW WAS SEEN DURING A WATCHING BRIEF ON A PIPE TRENCH. THE RIDGE AND FURROW LAY EAST AND NORTH-EAST OF THE MONITERED TRENCH AND THE FURROWS WERE ALIGNED SOUTH-EAST TO NORTH-WEST. THERE WAS ALSO EVIDENCE FOR A PLOUGH HEADLAND. IN ADDITION THE PASTURE FIELDS TO THE NORTH CONTAINED EARTHWORKS BUT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY THESE AS THE REMAINS OF RIDGE AND FURROW OR HOUSE PLATFORMS. THERE WAS ALSO SOME WELL PRESERVED RIDGE AND FURROW FURTHER WEST. {1}{2}{3} Medieval ridge and furrow appears to have been ploughed out and is not visible (in 2012) on Google maps. {4}
