DURING AN EVALUATION AT STAMFORD SCHOOL, TAP-SLAG WAS RETRIEVED. IRON SLAG DEPOSITS HAVE ALSO BEEN FOUND IN THE VICINITY, AND THIS MAY INDICATE THAT LATE SAXON IRON SMELTING OCCURRED IN THE VICINITY. {1}
