Full Description

PRN 34863 THE CROPMARKS OF A DROVE ROAD AND ENCLOSURES ARE VISIBLE ON AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS. THE DROVE ROAD WAS EXCAVATED (TF 1210 1410) AND ROMAN POTTERY WAS RECOVERED. DURING FIELDWALKING IN 1989 A LOW MOUND WAS NOTED WHICH HAD A NUMBER OF TILE FRAGMENTS, INCLUDING A PART OF A TEGULA, ON THE TOP. THIS COINCIDED WITH A CONCENTRATION OF STONE, INCLUDING A FRAGMENT OF WORKED STONE, WHICH SUGGESTED THE PRESENCE OF A BUILDING. HOWEVER, WHEN THE MOUND WAS EXCAVATED NO EVIDENCE OF A ROMAN BUILDING WAS RECORDED. {1}{2}
