Full Description
THE BARROW IS VISIBLE AS AN EARTHEN MOUND APPROXIMATELY 25 M IN DIAMETER AND STANDING ABOUT 1.5 M HIGH. THE MOUND IS ENCIRCLED BY A DITCH EXCEPT TO THE AEAST WHERE THE ROADSIDE DITCH CUTS THE SITE. THERE IS A SECOND BARROW IMMEDIATELY TO THE SOUTH EAST (SAM 20810; PRN 34841). THE SCHEDULING INCLUDES A 2 M BOUNDARY AROUND THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL FEATURES. THE FIELD BOUNDARY FENCE ON THE EAST AND THE REMAINS OF AN OLDER FENCE ARE EXCLUDED. {1} THESE TWO MOUNDS MAY HAVE BEEN USED AS ARCHERY BUTTS AT A LATER DATE (SEE 32844; 32845)
