Full Description

BY 1903 THE URBAN ELECTRIC SUPPLY COMPANY HAD A GENERATING STATION AT No.12 WHARF ROAD AND AN OFFICE AT No.8 ST. MARY'S HILL. THE COMPANY CONTINUED TO SUPPLY ELECTRICITY TO THE TOWN UNTIL IT WAS NATIONALISED. THE SITE IS NOW USED ONLY AS A DEPOT. {1} This building, recorded as the Stamford Electric Light Company building, was surveyed in 2003 prior to redevelopment of the site. {2}{3}
