Full Description
West of the bridleway known as Mereway (perhaps an Iron Age boundary line?) is a Roman industrial site. Fieldwork revealed six or eight distinct areas of clinker from iron smelting. Other finds include roof and floor tiles fairly well scattered across the site. Tiles include imbrices with initials stamped on them. There was considerable pottery but also some glass. Some of the clinker had crucible fragments attached. {1}
