Full Description
A number of earthwork features were identified within Bourne Wood during a site visit. A U-shaped banked enclosure has been identified, along with a pond. Also a well preserved bank and ditch system which follows the parish boundary between Bourne and Pillar woods. {1}
An area of woodland (19 hectares of which classified as semi-natural and the remaining 226 hectares classified as plantation) included in the Nature Conservancy Council's 'Inventory of Ancient Woodland'. Ancient woodland status considered to be probable. {2}
