Full Description

33955 In 1933, immediately to the north of the Grantham Waterworks Intake station, during the digging of gravel a Neolithic pot was discovered. The pot was similar to Windmill Hill ware. The only other find at this time was a serrated flint flake. C.W.Phillips carried out a site visit, where he noticed in the section of the quarry what turned out to be a large rectangular feature 7 feet long and 2 feet wide with stake holes at its edges. Further finds were a medium-sized pounding stone and a piece of human skull and mandible. The relationship between the features and the finds was not established. The pot and the flint flake are in Grantham Museum. {1}{2}{3}
