Full Description

The medieval Church of St James in Skillington stands in its churchyard in the village. At the north-east and south-east angles of the nave are fragments of long and short work of an early church. The rest of the fabric is Early English and Decorated with 15th century additions. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}{6} In 1865 the vicar, the Revd Charles Hudson, was killed while climbing on the Matterhorn and there are two stained glass windows to his memory.
