COURSED STONE BUILDING, MUCH RESTORED, OF COMPACT CRUCIFORM PLAN, DATED 1637, WITH STONE MULLIONS AND REPAIRED OLD TILE ROOF. {1}{2}{3} NOW RENAMED 'THE ABBEY'. MOAT RESURVEYED AT 1:2500. {1} VISITED BY TONY HURLEY, SOUTH KESTEVEN COMMUNITY ARCHAEOLOGIST, IN FEBRUARY 1992. MOAT REPORTED TO STILL CONTAIN WATER; LYING ON HIGH GROUND AND UNLIKELY TO HAVE EXTENDED FURTHER. SWIMMING POOL BUILT ON NORTHEAST END. {5} The Abbey (previously listed as Skillington Manor House) is a Grade II listed house which was built in 1637. The building was extended and altered in the 19th century and in the 20th century. {6} The Abbey (Manor House), Skillington. Partially extant 17th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with L-plan range plus detached buildings to the fourth side of the yard. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been significant loss (greater than 50%) of traditional buildings. Located within a Church and/or Manor farm group. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {7}
