Full Description

WHEN THE CHANCEL WAS REBUILT IN 1876 2 SAXON STONES, BOTH WITH KNOTWORK AND ONE OF THEM CLEARLY PART OF A CROSS, WERE FOUND. {1}{4} IN THE SOUTH AISLE A FINE SECTION FROM A SMALL CROSS WITH INTERLACE ON THREE SIDES AND A DEBASED VINE-SCROLL ON THE FOURTH. ALSO THE REMAINS OF THE HEAD OF A WHEEL CROSS DECORATED WITH INTERLACE (APPARENTLY FROM A SECOND PIECE) AND A THIRD PANEL WITH A SIMPLE INTERLACE PATTERN. ALL THREE ARE MID C10/MID C11. {2}
