Full Description

A fragment from a Saxon cross shaft was found in an outbuilding at the Old Rectory, some years before 1913. The fragment measured 19" long, 17" wide and 8" thick, and was carved with an interlacing cable design. Pevsner thought it to be of probable 11th century date. The fragment was reported in 1965 as being kept under the cover of an arch at the Old Rectory. {1}{2}{3}{4}
