Full Description

Fragment of a possibly unfinished Bronze Age battleaxe. {1} The Ordnance Survey record states that it is a bronze battleaxe. This is an error, however, as it is clearly noted as a stone axe by A. White who recorded the object. {2} The fragment was found in 1979, during field walking at Ropsley and Humby. It is made of weathered dolerite and features an incomplete secondary perforation. It was thought to date to either the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age. {3}
