Full Description

Roman pottery dating to the 3-4th century was found in 1953, during forestry work in Ropsley Rise Wood. {1}{2} Further Roman artefacts were recovered from immediately south of Ropsley Rise Wood, near to the pond. The assemblage included a large scatter of building stone, pottery and quern fragments, and possibly indicates the location of a Roman farmstead. {3}{4}
