Full Description

Counthorpe is mentioned in Domesday Survey, and had a parochial chapel until the days of Edward VI. It was formerly a hamlet of Castle Bytham and was annexed to parish of Creeton in 1860. Slight traces of desertion and other shadow marks are visible on AP in vicinity of Counthorpe House. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5} At TF00382018 are two steadings, one partly buried by farm refuse, the only clear traces of desertion.........vegetation. Together these no doubt formed the nucleus of the hamlet.{1}
