Full Description

An Iron Age triangular clay loom-weight, bronze pennanular brooch, hand-made shelly black pottery, a small iron knife and Roman wheel-turned pottery of probably pre-Flavian date were found in a silted ditch exposed (from SK99762055 to SK99832068) in quarry face at Counthorpe. The finds, which are now in the City and County Museum, Lincoln, probably date between 27-75 AD. {1}{2}{3} The ditch has been obliterated by further quarrying; no more recent finds are known to the quarry workers. {1}{5}
