Full Description

PRN 33551 Now incorporates PRNs 34245 34244 34247 34246. Casewick, or Casuic, a lost hamlet about one mile north-east of Uffington, is mentioned in the Domesday Survey, and also in the tax list of 1334. At one time there was a chapel, and nine houses, but in 1816 two houses only remained, one of which was Casewick Hall. In 1965 the area was under cultivation and nothing was seen of any village earthworks on aerial photographs. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}{6}{8} There are no visible remains of this hamlet. Surrounding the Hall are remains of an ornamental moat, in places converted to a ha-ha and a sunken garden. {1}
