Full Description

The ice house within Spring Wood was built in red brick in the late 18th century. It is circular in plan and the entrance has steps leading down to a doorway with an ashlar lintel which is inscribed "WB" on the reverse. The entrance passage has a brick barrel vault and either side are semi-circular headed niches. The circular chamber itself, is sunk, with a very shallow brick vault.
