ST. ANDREW'S CHURCH, WEST DEEPING, IS EARLY ENGLISH, DECORATED AND PERPENDICULAR, MUCH RESTORED IN 1876-7. IN NORMAL USE. {1}{2} EARLY ENGLISH. THREE-BAY ARCADES, BOTH OF ROUND PIERS, MOULDED CAPITALS, ROUND ABACI, AND DOUBLE-CHAMFERED ARCHES, BUT THE NORTH PIERS A LITTLE SLENDERER. THE CHANCEL ARCH EARLY ENGLISH TOO. OF THE LATE C13 THE WINDOWS IN THE WEST BAYS OF THE AISLES. SIMPLE GEOMETRICAL TRACERY (AN UNFOILED CIRCLE). EARLY C14 CHANCEL, THE WINDOWS WITH TRACERY OF A CUSPED INTERSECTING VARIETY. BALLFLOWER FRIEZE BELOW THE EAVES. SEDILIA AND PISCINA IN KEEPING. RESTORATION 1874-7 BY BUTTERFIELD, WHO REBUILT THE PORCH, ADDED A VESTRY, AND REFITTED THE INTERIOR. THE CHANCEL IS ESPECIALLY DELIGHTFUL - DECORATION BY TOWNSEND OF PETERBOROUGH, TILING IN ALL AVAILABLE COLOURS. DECORATED WEST TOWER. CLASPING BUTRESSES. ARCH TO THE NAVE TRIPLE-CHAMFERED. PERPENDICULAR BELL-OPENINGS WITH TRANSOM. RECESSED CROCKETED SPIRE WITH TWO TIERS OF LUCARNES IN THE SAME DIRECTIONS. BY BUTTERFIELD THE STONE SCREEN AND REREDOS WITH MOSAIC, THE ALTER RAILS, THE PULPIT AND THE SIMPLE WOODEN BENCHES IN THE NAVE, AND ALSO THE CHANCEL CELURE. OCTAGONAL FONT, C13? WITH PANELS WITH SHIELDS. CHANDELIER BRASS, TWO TIERS OF ARMS; 1770. STAINED GLASS IN THE CHANCEL ALL BY GIBBS, c1878. {3}
