Full Description
An urn containing about a thousand small brass Roman coins was found in c.1820, at a spot about half a mile from the Car Dyke and Langtoft. Other coins of silver and brass have been occasionally found since the hoard's finding. {1}{2}{3}
'At a spot about half a mile from the Car-Dike and Langtoft, an urn was found, some fifty years ago (c.1820), containing about 1000 small brass Roman coins; since which time others of silver and brass have been occasionally found, as well as in Uffington parish near here, including one of Vespasian.'
The hoard is thought to have been of 3rd or 4th century date. {4}
