Summary
TOY PISTOL, FOUND NEAR THE WELL HEAD
Type and Period (1)
- FINDSPOT (Post Medieval - 1850 AD to 1900 AD)
Protected Status/Designation
Full Description
Zinc alloy toy gun - immitation of a box-lock percussion-cap action which became common on pocket pistols etc. after 1840. Because of its neatness it left few projections etc. which could snag in the pocket. The absence of a 'working' action on this toy suggests perhaps a date of c. 1850-1900 {1} Found near the Well Head, Bourne. {2}
