Full Description
ROMAN POTTERY FROM THIS LOCATION. INFORMATION: H HEALEY, S.L.A.U. {1}{2} QUANTITY OF ROMANO BRITISH POTTERY FOUND ORIGINALLY AS A RESULT OF BUILDING A COMPACTED GRAVEL TRACK (MRS HALLAM'S BOURNE - MORTON CANAL). FINDS INCLUDE AN ALMOST COMPLETE COLOUR COATED NENE VALLEY WARE FLAGON. A FURTHER SCATTER OF POTTERY TO THE SW AT TF112210. {3} FIELD-WALKING BY THE FENLAND SURVEY LOCATED A ROMANO BRITISH SETTLEMENT SITE AT TF11252098 WHICH CONCURS WITH THE SCATTER IDENTIFIED AT TF112210 MENTIONED ABOVE. POTTERY AND SOME BURNT LIMESTONE WERE FOUND ON VER HUMOSE SOIL ADJACENT TO AND ASSOCIATED WITH THE BOURNE-MORTON CANAL. MUCH GREYWARE AND MANY OF THE SHERDS ARE SMALL AND ABRADED. {4}, AREA 0.9H, HTM 2M
