Full Description

SITE OF WOOLWORTH'S STORE IN CENTRE OF BOURNE. DURING CLEARANCE OF SITE LARGE QUANTITIES OF MEDIEVAL POTTERY WERE FOUND ALONG WITH SOME POST MEDIEVAL TYPES. {1} PANCHEONS IN RED, BROWN AND LIGHT GREY WARE AND PROBABLY SOME KILN WASTE. A FRILLY BASE IN ORANGE WARE WITH WHITISH SURFACES. A POST MEDIEVAL PANCHEON OR BOWL RIM IN ORANGE FABRIC WITH CLEAR GLAZE WHICH IS SIMILAR TO AN EXAMPLE FROM LEVERTON. ALSO A RIM OF A BLLEDING BOWL (?) WITH A SOFT WHITISH FABRIC AND A BLACK METALLIC GLAZE. A HANDLE IN YELLOW GLAZE WITH BROWN STRIPES. ALSO A STAMFORD WARE INDENTED VESSEL (PITCHER) WITH WAVY LINE DECORATION ON A JUG RIM AND A PANCHEON RIM AS WELL AS A STABBED HANDLE IN ORANGE FABRIC WITH GREEN-BROWN GLAZE. BRIDGE SPOUT IN GREEN GLAZE. BROWN GLAZE HANDLED JUG RIM WHICH IS BLISTERED. ALSO A SCALY GREEN GLAZED SHERD. {2}, HTM 10.5M
