Full Description
'Here was once a small priory which stood at a little distance nearly west of the church. A farmhouse is built out of the ruins on the site and that is now occupied by Mr Grummit. There is a very fine large arch in the wall of a dovecote standing against the gateway. Into a hole in this gateway the Crier used formerly to put his finger when he cried stray cattle. The whole has been moated around.' {1}{2}
There is no other documentary reference to a priory at Haconby other than Marratt who is somewhat unreliable at times. This priory must be considered spurious. {3}
