Full Description

A medieval church in Early English and Decorated style. It was over restored in 1857. A flat buttress in the chancel may be Norman. {1}{2}{3}{4} A parish church dated to the early 12th century, with 13th and 14th century additions. It was restored in 1857. It is built of coursed limestone and ironstone rubble, with limestone ashlar. It has stone coped gables and cross finials. The west tower is early 14th century. The gabled porch to the west has a 13th century doorway. There is a late 12th century south doorway restored in the 19th century. The four bay north aisle dates from about 1200. The 15th century octagonal font has an inscription: 'Jesus Christ Maria Baptista', and in the 8th panel: 'priur' interpreted as 'in principio'.
