Full Description
An area of Roman salterns at Aslackby Fen. A large scatter of saltern pottery, including a few sherds of Romano-British Samian and greyware pottery, was noted in 1972, along with earthwork humps and hollows spread over 40 acres. The site was excavated in 1975 after drainage work, when a long section was cut through a possible Roman sea bank. Large quantities of briquetage was recorded along with a series of pits or ditches. {1}{2}
