Full Description

PRN32972 Romano-British potsherds, dressed stone, roofing and hypocaust tiles and two possible coarse tesserae found during field walking. The field name is Toft Hills and there is a pronounced ridge parallel with the road (B. B. Simmons, 1972). In 1976 the following finds were made: a sestertius of Marcus Aurelius - illegible; an illegible antoninianus of Tetricus I; an antoninianus of Gallienus; a bronze medallion of Carus (AD282-83).{1} In March 1972 the following were found at Toft Hills: tesserae, tiles, stone, grey wares, colour-coated ware, querns - TF123338. Part of same site as above, it covers at least ten acres. {3} Cropmarks visible in aerial photographs in this area may relate to this site (see PRN39226). {4}
