Full Description

Building work conducted in 1975 at the old Burghley Estate yard off Water Street revealed a large quantity of medieval pottery, possibly dumped into or on the river bank as part of riverside land reclamation deposits. The assemblage comprised sherds of Bourne ware, developed Stamford ware and Lyveden ware. {1}{2}
