Full Description

Finds including an 'ustrina' were reported by Stukeley in 1744. Dug up at house in High Street was an empty urn, possibly Roman, found covered with a slate. A barrel-shaped urn (Stukeley guessed pre-Roman) and other urns were found. Two perpendicular hewn arches, without mortar, against the side of the rock were filled with black mould and the ground was paved with stones, black with burning.{1}{2}
