WALL PLAQUE AT TF 03000725 READS:-'HERE FORMERLY STOOD THE MARKET CROSS.... IT WAS MENTIONED IN 1550 AND WAS TAKEN DOWN IN 1696'. THE ACTUAL SITE WOULD MOST PROBABLY BE IN THE CENTRE OF BROAD STREET. {1}{2} DEPICTED ON SPEED'S MAP OF STAMFORD c1610, STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF BROAD STREET TO THE SOUTHEAST OF BROWNE'S HOSPITAL. {3}~
