PRN 30610 Destroyed by Lancastrian 1461. {1}{2}{3}{4} Position not exactly known, but probably outside the E gate of the town. Site probably clear by 1552, when in possession of the Cecil Family. In 1549 chapelin possession of Cecil Family. As late as 1604 burials still made in the churchyard. Earliest ref to church 1154-9. No separate church of St Stephens, merely change of dedication first named 1428. Fabric used to repair St Michaels & town bridges. {4} TF03420741:Service trench parallel with E side of St Peters Hse, 10.1979. A wall running N-S & turning W at N end (ie NE corner of building) discovered together with a number of human burials. One cut into the wall & seems post demolition, others seem to have been disturbed by wall or its robbing.SLAU {5}
