Full Description

PARTS OF A SAXON CROSS WERE DISCOVERED IN 1867. FORMERLY IN THE CHANCEL, NOW IN THE SOUTH PORCH. SHAFT WITH INTERLACE GRID ON ONE FACE AND CONVENTIONAL INTERLACE ON ANOTHER. {1}{2}{3} FOUND IN THE FOUNDATIONS DURING THE RESTORATION OF THE CHURCH IN 1887; IT IS 30.5 INCHES LONG AND 14 INCHES BY 10 INCHES AT THE BASE, TAPERING TO 11 INCHES BY 8 INCHES. ALL FOUR SIDES HAVE INTERLACED ORNAMENT, THE PANEL ON ONE OF THE SIDES HAVING FREE CIRCLES. {4}
