Full Description

A 16th or 17th century purple-ware jug in Grantham Museum (H68) was discovered when Cheney House was demolished in 1865 to build the congregational church. It was concealed in the wall and it contained a quantity of coins of Elizabeth I. {1} {3} Local newspaper transcriptions tell of coins up to Charles I declared treasure trove. {2}
