Full Description

PRN 30502 [Note - this record contains information from PRN 30555, now deleted.] Base probably 13th century, upper part 15th century. In 1886 an obelisk was erected in its place. This was removed 1910 and the old cross restored and re-erected.{1}{2} There is a full description in the revised scheduling document 22657 {5} 'In medieval times the market was held in front of St. Wulfram's around a stone cross called the apple cross. Later the centre of the town moved... '{6} The market cross is of medieval origin with an 18th century cap.
