Full Description
Alan son of Wido de Crudun gave land to the Abbey of St Mary at York from Belton. A cell of 2 or 3 priests was maintained at Belton until the Dissolution of the monasteries. (The site is possibly located in the area of SK9239.) It has been suggested that the cross found while digging a pond in the Wilderness may indicate the site of this cell. The cross is now on the Gothic ruin.{1}
